Requests for research on individuals and/or families within our cemeteries are carried out by the Benalla Family Research Group.
The Group specialises in family history research for Benalla and District residents and for those who no longer live here. Local history is high on the list of research carried out by the Group and many histories have been prepared for local organisations.
Situated 4km from the heart of Benalla, the Benalla Lawn and Memorial Cemetery is an attractive and tranquil place of repose for the pioneers and residents of the North East Victorian district. Dating back to the mid nineteenth century, the Benalla Cemetery is rich in Australian history, including many noted identities from the infamous Ned Kelly Legend. Historic walks and trails make the Benalla Cemetery a must-see point of reference.
